NATIONAL PARK HUASCARAN


One of but the outstanding units of conservation by the set of its snow-covered landscapes, lakes, tubes, torrents and cascades. It practically includes within his snow-covered limits to all White mountain range and seven of more than 6 000 ms of height, that constitute one of the main international centers of attention for climbers and montañistas.

One settled down like National Park the 10 of 1975 July, with a surface of 340.000 is and a length of 158 km, including/understanding part of the provinces of Recuay, Huaraz, Carhuaz, Yungay, Huaylas, Pomabamba, Marshal Luzuriaga, Huari, Corongo, Sihuas and Bolognesi. It has been declared biosphere reserve and natural patrimony of the humanity by UNESCO.

The territory of the park is very rough, presents/displays summits snow-covered with altitudes that oscillate between 5.000 to 6.768 msnm, broken deeply boxed like turn out of the erosion to fluvioglaciar and great number of lagoons. 663 glaciers distributed throughout 180 km in length exist within the limits of the park from the snow-covered Tuco in the south, to the Champará in elnorte.

With respect to the climate two stations exist biendiferenciadas:a) the dry time, of April to September, accentuating themselves between the months of June to August; and b) the rainy time, of October to May, being the maximum precipitation between January and March.

Its flora is innumerable, it includes important rodales of Puya Raimondi, and between his fdauna is the gray deer, taruca, the bear of eyeglasses, the vicuna, puma, the fox, vizcacha, the weasel, the cat I mount, muca, zorrillo añaz, etc. Also there is infinity of birds, predominate the ducks, gallaretas and the picaflores.
